A TRUE AND MOVING STORY OF OUR CHILDREN IN CATIA-
CARACAS VENEZUELA.
We as FUNDA JIREH, wanted to express a unique experience that I was able to live especially with the children of this Community. Didn't we know who the children were, let alone where they were from? The only thing we had in our hearts was to reach more children in need and with real deprivation and more so on these important dates for each child, "CHRISTMAS". We decided to make contact and we managed to contact the Martínez Birriel Missionaries who are Pastoring there in Catia. I call them and say: “We have seen that you are working with children in Venezuela, I ask: How many children are there? She answers me: “in the children's day activity I had about 100 children, more in the week I have about 80, 60 children”, I continued asking her “For this Christmas what do you plan to do to the children? Deisy, the missionary's wife, responds very humbly: "I bring my children an arepa and they are happy, I have always brought them an arepa with egg, or with mortadella and they are happy." And in deep silence, I tell them: “Beloved, I am calling you to tell you that God put it in my heart to help these children and make them a Christmas dinner”, and she with many tears in her eyes and her voice a little broken and surprised He replies: Christmas dinner? With Hallacas, salads, bread!. And I told them: yes, also Con Papelón Con Limón”, She continues crying: “and she tells me: “I can't believe that my children are going to eat
a Hallaca and even less to have a Christmas Dinner” And she begins to tell me the Story of these beautiful children, telling me: “yenia, my children, they are children who ate from Catia's garbage dump, and one day, “God says: my husband sees to the Catia Garbage Dump” and he began to pray and one day, the Missionary Pastor Ángel Martínez, asked some brothers who are pastoring that he needed to go to the Catia Garbage Dump, because God was sending him there, however, they told him :” Pastor the Garbage Dumpster of Catia?, That is very Dangerous. However, the Missionary insisted and went with his wife and a Brother from the Church accompanied him, and when they arrived at the place, they found that Full as a child, feeding from Catia's garbage dump”, when I heard this: “I began to cry, without stopping because God was taking me to these beautiful children, without knowing their history and where they were from, and less where they ate, but the one who gave us The Vision of Feeding the children in Venezuela and Trinidad & Tobago knows all things and knows where its children are with a reality of deep poverty like this, that they don't have to eat. Then I tell her, now with a broken voice and tears in my eyes: "we want to make the Dinner for 100 children, it doesn't matter that there are fewer and I want you to sit each child at a table at that Christmas Dinner please", Knowing our reality in Venezuela, I made this request to her, because I had seen it in a photo that she posted, of children eating on the floor. She keeps telling me: “Yenia, her parents are very poor, they live on a ranch, and I don't think they have a table”. I told them: “My dear, go to each ranch, please and tell them that whoever has a little table, lend it to them at home and explain that we want to honor these children, that they have a decent Christmas dinner and sit in a table, please.” Mission accomplished, we managed to get these little tables between them and we managed to bless each child with his Christmas Dinner, plus a Cotillón. And even some Fathers ate.
From that moment, our Heart as Funda Jireh was filled with Much more Passion and Love for each Venezuelan child like them.
The Order we have is “Give him something to eat”.
